ABATOX, our patented technology, makes polymers and surfaces permanently bacteriostatic, without use of toxic substances and biocides and without changing the physical and mechanical characteristics of materials and products treated.

How does this work?

A bacteriostatic antimicrobial agent is able to limit the bacteria replication without killing the microorganism.
Abatox acts directly on the cell membrane through the presence of zinc ions, altering the bacteria and limiting cell production by not allowing the exchange of substances necessary for replication.
Bacteriostatic surfaces are achieved through the inclusion of zinc ions within the structure of the material.

The exceptionality of ABATOX consists precisely in making polymer surfaces and aqueous solutions (and non-aqueous) bacteriostatic through the specific use of Zn + 2 ions without any use of biocides.
Thus, the application is completely natural.




ABATOX has been shown to cause a 90% reduction in bacteria on treated surfaces compared to untreated, without killing the microorganism or exposing harmful chemicals to humans or animals.

Application Field




The application fields vary from biomedical devices, cosmetics, dentistry, ceramics, toys, textile, footwear, clothing, food packaging (food storage and lengthening of shelf-life). Other applications include white/clean rooms, nonwovens, textiles, children’s toys, sports clothing, and air filtration systems, among many others.

Abatox can be blended directly in the monomers or the polymers used for extrusion or thermoforming; it can be "sprayed" or "nebulized" on the finished product or semi-finished product. It can also be combined with other liquids.





Polymers

Polymer grains treated with ABATOX are mixed with the original grains of the polymer in order to obtain a material that inhibits bacterial growth.

Liquids

Lacquers, paints and dyes can be directly mixed with ABATOX to obtain the treated liquid, or alternatively, the finished or semi-finished product can be atomized with a liquid mixture containing ABATOX.
